The Seven News Values of News

Timeliness - http://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/18/world/europe/russia-ukraine.html?ref=world&_r=0

This story goes with Timeliness this event just happened today.

Proximity - http://www.statesman.com/news/news/crime-law/kyle-police-investigating-death-of-shooting-witnes/nfZP9/

This Story goes with Proximity because it's not too far from where I live.

Prominence - http://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/03/fashion/Johnny-Manzeil-nfl-fashion-workout.html

This story goes with Prominence because it's about a famous person who people would like to read about.

Human Interest - http://www.statesman.com/news/news/crime-law/police-hutto-man-pulled-knife-on-10-year-old-girl-/nfZc7/

This goes with Human Interest because it would get people angry, sad, or scared about what happened.

Impact - http://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/17/us/politics/obama-looks-for-midterm-advantage-on-job-training-and-immigration.html?ref=us

I think this goes with Impact because plenty of peoples family can be affected by this.

Conflict - http://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/18/opinion/ukrainian-hopes-russian-failings.html?ref=opinion

This story goes with conflict because it shows the problems between two different regions.

Novelty- http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/04/17/man-fined-525-drink-refilll_n_5167295.html?utm_hp_ref=weird-news

This story goes with Novelty because it's not normal to get fined that much money for a refill.

One of the most most important articles to me is this one http://www.statesman.com/ap/ap/top-news/ukraine-more-stringent-border-checks-for-russians/nfcDN/

It's important because this may eventually cause a war or some sort of fight between them, then who knows who else may join.

The dumbest article I found was this one http://www.statesman.com/news/ap/georgia/real-housewives-tv-star-faces-battery-charge/nfcGR/

It's so irrelevant to a lot of people in this world. Nobody should care about what happen a "Reality" Tv show.

Front Pages of the World

1. What is the name of your single favorite newspaper front page? Why is it your favorite?
Houston Chronicle & it's my favorite because the articles on the front page are interesting and are very eye catching.

2. Post an image of your favorite to your blog.
3.What city and state is the paper from?
Houston, Texas

4.What is your favorite headline from that newspaper? Why are you interested in it?
My favorite headline is "Neighbors out-raged over sex-offender home" because it's something to read about and you want to know why the offenders have a home together in the public.

5. How many stories are on the front page of your favorite?
About five Stories.
6. What do you notice that all newspaper front pages have in common? Look at design, size of photos, size of story text, etc.
I noticed that in all the Newpapers the main story has the largest photo and the most text, and also is usually in the center of the paper.
7.What are things that vary (or are different) on the front pages of different newspapers? Look at design, size of photos, size of headlines, etc.

The fonts vary, of course the stories are different. Some papers may have more stories than others. Some headlines are bigger than other papers depending on the size available.
